I found Mr Aylott very helpful and clear in discussions of what was found and needed. I had had problems for a few months and it was such a relief to get answers to quickly.

I felt confident that the operation would be successful and that there would not be any problems. My feelings about this proved correct. Mr Aylott inspired confidence in his abilities so I felt no fears about having my operation.

Mr. Aylott explained in detail at each appointment what was going to happen, he followed that with reassurance. He was approachable. Very professional and I felt confident in his ability.

Mr Aylott explained everything in detail to me very clearly. We looked at my MRI and I am now much clearer about my situation. He examined me and listened to my history. He recommended and administered spinal injections which have worked to a degree and they have allowed me to start gentle exercise which is slowly aiding my recovery. Most importantly, Mr Aylott answered all of my questions and reassured me about all of the things I was worried about. I did not feel rushed and I refer to the patient letter he wrote me regularly to refresh my knowledge of my back. If you're constantly reading worrying articles online and/or waiting for an NHS appointment, I recommend seeing Mr Aylott. Do not expect the NHS to help you. In addition, his staff was extremely helpful in setting up appointments. Thank you Mr Aylott and the team!

The whole experience was carried out in a professional, yet friendly way and I would highly recommend Mr Aylott for anyone suffering with spinal problems.

My Aylott was very clear that the diagnosis would determine treatment. I was impressed that Mr Aylott had a PhD in mechanical engineering as well being a published orthopaedic surgeon and spine specialist. He was not keen on immediately recommending surgery. Mr. Aylott suggested I might like to try a steroid injection, even though there was a small probability of success. I was very happy to try a simpler, lower risk procedure. Unfortunately, it did not work after 2 days. As the sciatica symptoms got worse, I could not walk without taking painkillers, I became keener to have decompression surgery. The balance of risks pointed in that direction. My Aylott explained the risks and the probability of a good outcome. His success rate was higher than the profession's average. The surgery was painless, I woke up post surgery an hour and half later and was immediately able to walk without pain! I walked out of the clinic 3 hours later. The next day, I was able to walk 2 miles. I stopped taking painkillers after 1 day. There was no pain apart from discomfort around the wound area, if I bent down too far. After a few days I could cycle easily and run a couple of miles after a week. I must stress that this was against advise, but I was guided by the pain or lack of it. 5 weeks post surgery, I can run 6 miles, albeit with lack of fitness, which I am building up. I would highly recommend My Aylott. Start with getting a diagnosis via an MRI scan and have a consultation beforehand and after the scan. I did check up on Mr Aylott by paying for a consultation with another orthopaedic consultant. This consultant looked at the MRI and came to the same diagnosis. He shared that Mr Aylott had operated on his neck a couple of years earlier. This was the recommendation I was seeking.

I’m incredibly grateful that people like Mr Aylott exist, we are so lucky to have them. I was mostly bed bound with back pain and lost control of my day to day life, I was unable to walk far, drive, sit, sleep well….I booked a one stop appointment with Mr Aylott at his clinic in Cheltenham, within less than 2 hours, I had received a consultation, an MRI, a diagnosis and a plan to get me back to me! I did in fact need surgery (as I had a herniated disc causing sciatica), which was carried out at the Harley Street Hospital, who too were very efficient, I had a microdiscectomy, I had developed a list (lean) and I was skeptical when told the surgery could resolve this almost instantly…it did! I travelled home the same afternoon, was followed up with reassuring check ins from the Drs at HSH. Within 5 days I had stopped all pain relief, I was mobile, and was able to start gentle stretches. 5 weeks later I had my follow up with Mr Aylott, and despite an expected minor amount of lower back ache from time to time (usually upon waking after a full nights sleep)…I am walking approx 10k steps per day, I’ve been back at my (office based) job since week 3 post procedure. I’m now 95% back to my normal. Mr Aylott made me feel completely at ease throughout and I was not worried at all about having surgery. I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone struggling with back pain to book a one stop appointment. Grateful thanks, Elizabeth
