Mr Andrew Mahon

Mr. Andrew Mahon is a specialist Hand and Wrist Surgeon with over 10 years of experience in this field. He completed his Specialist Training in the Northern Region Specialist Training Programme based in Newcastle, before undertaking an Advanced Training Post in Hand Surgery in Birmingham from 2005 to 2006.

Since September 2014, he has worked at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire, where he and his colleagues have worked tirelessly to establish Coventry as a major centre for hand surgery in the UK, accepting tertiary referrals from other centres. Before this, Mr. Mahon served as a consultant in Worcestershire.

Mr. Mahon's practice covers all aspects of hand and wrist surgery, from common conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome to complex major injuries and their late consequences. He was the first in Worcestershire to treat Dupuytren's contracture with collagenase injections. Although he treats a wide range of hand conditions, he has a particular interest in wrist problems and arthroscopic (keyhole) wrist surgery. To enhance his expertise, he has visited centres in France and Germany to learn advanced techniques in arthroscopic wrist surgery.

He firmly believes that treatment should be tailored to the individual and that many hand and wrist conditions can be managed without surgery.

As a dedicated educator and trainer, Mr. Mahon regularly teaches surgical skills courses for trainees and consultants and has delivered lectures to medical students and specialist trainees, including at Warwick University. He is also involved in major research projects in his field.
