About Mr Ammar Abbas
Mr Ammar Abbas is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialist expertise in hip and knee arthroplasty. He undertakes a high volume of joint replacement procedures and manages both primary and complex revision cases as part of his clinical practice.
He completed eight years of higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Ireland, followed by advanced fellowship training in lower limb reconstructive surgery at the University Hospital of Wales. This training provided extensive experience in managing complex joint conditions and advanced reconstructive techniques.
Mr Abbas is a Consultant at University Hospital Hairmyres within NHS Lanarkshire and also practises in the independent sector. His work focuses on hip and knee surgery, including joint replacement and knee preservation procedures.
His clinical interests include primary hip and knee replacement, complex and revision knee arthroplasty, computer-assisted and navigated knee replacement, robotic joint replacement techniques, and arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery.
