Dr Manmeet Matharoo

Dr Manmeet Matharoo is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist with specialist interests in colorectal endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and patient safety. She assesses and treats both common and complex gastrointestinal symptoms and conditions.

Her practice includes abdominal pain and bloating, altered bowel habits, reflux and indigestion, rectal bleeding, iron-deficiency anaemia, coeliac disease and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Within inflammatory bowel disease, Dr Matharoo has a particular clinical interest in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

Endoscopy is a central area of her clinical and academic work. She performs diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, including gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Her doctoral research at Imperial College focused on improving safety and quality across gastrointestinal endoscopy patient pathways.

Dr Matharoo is actively involved in research and education in endoscopy. Her published work includes research on endoscopy quality and safety, and she teaches endoscopy internationally through professional education programmes. She has also received the St Mark's John Nicholls Research Prize for her doctoral research.

Professional activities include representing the British Society of Gastroenterology on the Royal College of Physicians Patient Safety Committee and serving as an Associate Editor of Frontline Gastroenterology.
