Dr Michael Zybutz

Dr Michael Zybutz is a GDC-registered specialist periodontist and lead implant surgeon at David Neal Dental. He sees patients from the group’s practices in Eastbourne, Hastings, Langport and Northampton.

A family practice

With a dental career spanning over 30 years, Michael has worked alongside his brother, Dr Anthony Zybutz, an advanced aesthetic dentist, since 2010. Together they founded David Neal Dental in 2019, after Bupa acquired their previous dental group, including its award-winning Harley Street practice. The brothers share a special interest in dental implants and aesthetics, and bring that combined expertise to same-day implant treatment across the group.

That family ethos shapes how every patient is looked after - outstanding clinical results, delivered with care that is personal and compassionate. Patients are never just the next name on a list.

Experience with complex cases

Michael has been placing dental implants in the UK for more than 30 years and has carried out full-arch Teeth in a Day (All on 4) treatment since 2010, restoring a complete set of fixed temporary teeth in a single surgical visit, in almost all cases without bone grafting. He is one of the few UK dentists with the skill and experience to place zygomatic (cheekbone) implants, and other dentists regularly refer their most complex cases to him.

Life-changing results

Many of Michael’s patients arrive having been told dentures are their only option.Some have spent years hiding their smile, eating around loose or painful teeth and turning down meals out, and have all but given up hope. Most need at least one full jaw restored.

For these patients, treatment changes far more than their teeth. With fixed implant teeth they can bite into an apple, enjoy a steak or share a meal with friends without a second thought. They regain a natural, beautiful smile, and with it the confidence to laugh and talk freely. Michael has treated thousands of people who came to him as a last resort, and former patients often stop him to tell him how different their lives are now.

Specialist training

Michael trained as a specialist periodontist at the University of Washington in the USA. It required three years of full-time postgraduate study and original research published in a peer-reviewed journal, followed by the American Board of Periodontology’s written and oral examinations. He is a Diplomate of the Board and the only specialist dentist in the UK ever to be accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry - a two-year process that ended with presenting his work to a panel of leading US aesthetic clinicians.

He continues to operate regularly, attendings conferences in the UK and USA to keep his techniques current.

On television

Michael has appeared, along with Anthony, as the expert dental specialist on national TV programmes including Botched Up Bodies, This Time Next Year and My Naked Secret. On these shows he helped people whose previous dental treatment had gone badly wrong, rebuilding their smiles and giving them back their quality of life and self-confidence.

Away from dentistry

Michael enjoys the outdoors, travel, films and music - and, above all, good conversation over good food.
