Karen Laler is a highly experienced HCPC-registered dietitian based in London, with more than seventeen years of clinical practice. For the past fifteen years she has specialised in paediatric dietetics, working across acute hospital settings, community services and academic research, including a period at the University of Oxford.
Karen currently divides her time between University College London Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital, where she practises as a specialist paediatric allergy dietitian. Her work focuses on supporting children with complex nutritional and feeding needs, and she collaborates closely with multidisciplinary allergy teams to ensure families receive comprehensive, evidence-based care.
In addition to her NHS work, Karen has recently expanded her practice to include private consultations. This allows her to offer timely, personalised support to families who need more immediate guidance or more in-depth help with feeding difficulties, allergies or growth concerns. She is known for her warm, empathetic approach and for helping parents feel confident and supported as they navigate often challenging situations.
Her areas of particular expertise include IgE and non-IgE mediated food allergies, FPIES, cow’s milk allergy, food intolerances, coeliac disease, ARFID, autism-related feeding challenges, selective or fussy eating, faltering growth, weight management, infant feeding and plant-based paediatric nutrition. She is committed to helping children thrive nutritionally through every stage of development, offering practical, realistic strategies tailored to each family’s needs.

Karen was fantastic. She really understood both my daughter’s allergies and autism-related feeding issues. The plan was practical and realistic - 50:50 bread and fortified cereals are easy swaps we can actually do. Left feeling supported and less worried. Thank you for your kindness and expertise.

Thank you so much for your kind review and it was a pleasure to support you. I'm really pleased you found the practical tips useful! All the best!
I had a very informative call, and an overall a good experience with advice to apply moving forward.
I was recommended Karen and I am so glad we went to her for advice for weaning my daughter who has a dairy allergy. She explained things throughly and provided plenty of opportunities for questions. Karen made many excellent diet substitute suggestions and gave real life examples of how to incorporate into our lifestyles. Following the call, Karen also provided many resources for me to refer back to which has been such a support. I would highly recommend Karen to any parents seeking support with children’s diets with allergies.

Thank you for your lovely words and kind recommendation. I’m so pleased to hear you found the advice and resources so useful!

We visited Karen at UCLH and had such a wonderful experience. Karen was so kind, warm, yet professional and clear. She suggested some fantastic supplementary reading which we have looked at. The nurse that administered her prick test was also brilliant. We were treated with incredible kindness and left feeling informed and very satisfied.

Thank you for your very kind feedback! It's lovely to hear you had such a positive experience with the team
