Dr John Usuah

Dr John Usuah is an accomplished Consultant Neurosurgeon who provides compassionate, evidence-based care for patients presenting with complex neurological and spinal disorders. His clinical practice focuses on delivering high-quality surgical interventions tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Dr Usuah combines technical precision with a patient-centred approach, guiding individuals and their families through every stage of their surgical assessment and treatment journey.

Dr Usuah completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at the University of Ibadan in 2008. He further advanced his academic background by obtaining a Postgraduate Certificate in Surgical Science from the University of Edinburgh in 2022. His postgraduate professional qualifications include Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2019, Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery in 2019, and Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2019. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Neurosurgery in 2023 and became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2025. Following his foundational surgical education, he completed advanced subspecialty fellowships in skull base neurosurgery, neurovascular surgery, and neurotrauma and cerebrospinal fluid disorders across major UK tertiary healthcare institutions. Dr Usuah holds professional memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the American College of Surgeons, the Society of British Neurological Surgeons, the West African College of Surgeons, and the Nigerian Academy of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr Usuah possesses broad clinical expertise across vascular neurosurgery, skull base neurosurgery, neurotrauma, complex cerebrospinal fluid disorders, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, syringomyelia, and degenerative spinal disease. He routinely performs advanced micro-neurosurgical procedures, endoscopic cerebrospinal fluid interventions, skull base surgery, and neurovascular operations for cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernomas, and extracranial-intracranial bypasses. His dedicated clinical approach ensures that patients receive thorough diagnostic evaluation, clear communication, and tailored management plans.

In addition to his surgical responsibilities, Dr Usuah serves as a departmental clinical audit lead and actively contributes to clinical governance, academic research, quality improvement, and postgraduate surgical training.
