Dr Giannis Sokratous

Dr Giannis Sokratous is a highly skilled Consultant Neurosurgeon specialising in complex cranial and vascular conditions. His practice focuses on delivering precise, evidence-based surgical management alongside a compassionate, patient-centred approach. Dr Sokratous works closely with patients and multidisciplinary medical teams to formulate individualised treatment plans, ensuring individuals feel supported and fully informed throughout every stage of their care.

With advanced expertise in complex vascular and skull base neurosurgery, Dr Sokratous provides surgical interventions for a wide spectrum of brain and cerebrovascular disorders. His clinical interest encompasses the treatment of cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), cavernomas, and extracranial-intracranial (EC-IC) bypass procedures. In addition to cerebrovascular and skull base interventions, he provides comprehensive care for complex cranial conditions and emergency neurosurgical presentations, supported by broad training spanning cranial, spinal, and paediatric neurosurgery.

Dr Sokratous earned his Medical Degree (Ptychio Iatrikes) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2011. He furthered his academic credentials by completing a Master of Science (MSc) in Surgical Technology at Imperial College London in 2014, alongside postgraduate certifications in Medical Leadership and Teaching & Learning in the Medical Workplace from Edge Hill University in 2019. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Neurosurgery (FRCS Neuro.Surg.) in 2022, after which he completed advanced dual fellowship programmes in skull base neurosurgery and neurovascular surgery. He remains an active Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
