Medical Director, Sirona Health
Specialist care for PMDD, PMS, perimenopause, menopause and hormone-related mood symptoms
I am the Medical Director of Sirona Health, a specialist women’s health clinic with a particular focus on hormonal mental health. I help women across the UK understand and treat the impact that reproductive hormones can have on mood, emotional wellbeing and cognitive function.
My clinical practice specialises in PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder), severe PMS, perimenopause and menopause, particularly where symptoms are predominantly psychological rather than physical.
Many of the women I see have been told they have anxiety or depression, yet recognise a clear hormonal or cyclical pattern to their symptoms. Others are navigating the emotional and cognitive changes of perimenopause, including anxiety, low mood, irritability, brain fog, poor sleep and loss of confidence.
I provide personalised, evidence-based care, combining conventional medical treatment with lifestyle and holistic approaches where appropriate.
Hormonal symptoms rarely affect just one part of a woman’s life. My consultations are in-depth and unhurried, allowing time to understand the timing and pattern of your symptoms, your medical and reproductive history, previous treatments and your personal goals.
Together we develop an individual treatment plan, which may include hormonal therapies, non-hormonal medications, nutritional and lifestyle interventions, or a combination of approaches tailored to you.
I qualified in medicine in 2004 at Leicester Warwick Medical School and began my career training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology within the Wessex Deanery, gaining experience in general gynaecology, obstetrics, urogynecology and gynaecological oncology.
After transitioning into General Practice, I completed my GP training in 2010. During this time I also undertook psychiatric training in Salisbury, providing valuable experience in diagnosing and managing mental health conditions—an expertise that now underpins my specialist work in hormonal mental health.
I have also worked in sexual health services in Southampton and a Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth.
I passed the Membership of the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare (MFSRH) and a Certificate in Menopause Care, with advanced training in contraception, reproductive health and menopause management.
The majority of my patients are seen remotely via secure video consultations, allowing me to provide specialist care to women across the UK.
For those who prefer an in-person appointment, I also offer face-to-face consultations near Tetbury, serving patients from Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bath and the surrounding Cotswolds.
My goal is to help women understand the connection between their hormones, brain and body, so they can make informed choices and feel like themselves again.

Dr Standen is the first doctor I’ve seen who has genuinely listened to me and taken the time to understand what is really going on. I’ve spent much of my twenties feeling frustrated and exhausted by not getting to the root cause of my symptoms, so being taken seriously and having everything properly considered has been incredibly reassuring. Dr Standen is clearly extremely knowledgeable in her field, but what has stood out most to me is how thorough and understanding she is. For the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful that I can properly understand and manage my PMDD symptoms and start to feel like myself again.
So informative and knows so much about pmdd, that she considers so many possible solutions, as not one size fits all. So approachable and professional.
A total relief to be heard and have your symptoms understood and explained. Georgina showed compassion for my symptoms and gave the specialist knowledge I needed. She was open and encouraging to me then going back to try an NHS prescription rather than continuing on the private track if not needed. I would recommend to any woman who feels like she isn't getting the information she needs.
Dr Georgina Standen was full of knowledge and someone I felt I could open up to. I hope this is the start of a positive journey for me, thank you!
I genuinely cannot recommend Dr Standen enough! After being diagnosed with PMDD I felt so confused, upset and lost. I felt like I didn’t fully understand it and I was so unsure of what treatment options were available, as well as what would be suitable for me personally. Dr Standen made me feel so understood and reassured, I felt at ease right away and felt so comfortable talking to her. She looked at my full history and made recommendations based on the full picture. I left the consultation feeling so positive and hopeful for the first time in a very long time and to me that is more than I could have ever asked for, I am really looking forward to starting treatment and getting my life back. Thank you so much!
Georgina was extremely knowledgeable. I felt she listened and took on board everything we had said, she was able to diagnose and suggest alternative treatment that we hope will help. She discussed next steps with us (if the medication worked and options if it did not). She explained complex medical terms simply in a format that was easy to understand. It was a very positive experience and I would recommend her to anyone
Dr Standen was knowledgeable, empathetic and so down to earth that it made the appointment feel like chatting to an old friend. She knew exactly what my daughter was going through and what she needed medication wise and it has helped her to no end . Would recommend to anyone who has issues with pmdd.
I had a consultation on Saturday and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the very beginning, I felt genuinely listened to and never felt rushed. She took a very thorough history, asked thoughtful questions, and really took the time to understand everything that had been happening before discussing my treatment options. Her knowledge and expertise were evident throughout the appointment, but what stood out most was her warm, friendly, and compassionate approach. She explained everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and made me feel reassured and involved in the decision-making process. I left the consultation feeling heard, supported, and much more confident about my treatment plan. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, thorough, and caring specialist. Thank you for such an excellent consultation.
It was lovely to speak with Georgina, she made me feel seen, heard and reassured about options for my managing health as I navigate perimenopause with underlying health conditions. My hour long consultation allowed for a deep dive into my health as a whole and the most appropriate ways to move forward so that I can feel positive about the future.
Dr Standen, was amazing! Listened to me, understood me and offered me help and support straight f away! This is the first time at 25 years old, that I’ve felt understood and supported
