I am a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in refractive cataract surgery and premium intraocular lenses. Born in Athens, Greece, I studied medicine at the Medical University of Constanta before completing ophthalmology training in Bucharest.
Since 2009, I have worked within the NHS in Yorkshire, holding several senior clinical and managerial roles including Clinical Lead, Clinical Governance Lead and Clinical Audit Lead. I have also overseen major ophthalmology subspecialty services such as the Medical Retina Service and Diabetic Screening Service.
Alongside my leadership work, I have been involved in multiple quality‑improvement and capacity‑building projects across NHS trusts, including:
- Unifying treatment protocols for retinal diseases
- Implementing virtual ophthalmology clinics
- Expanding advanced roles for ophthalmic nurses
- Streamlining cataract pathways to improve patient access
My passion, however, lies in cataract surgery. I am a high‑volume cataract surgeon, performing around 3,500 cataract surgeries per year at SpaMedica, and I also see private patients at Freedom Vision Leeds. I continually refine my surgical techniques and planning methods to ensure the safest and most precise visual outcomes.
My practice focuses on helping patients achieve spectacle independence using advanced lens technologies such as multifocal, trifocal, toric and EDoF lenses, supported by detailed corneal imaging and refractive planning.
