After displaying symptoms of hypogonadism, I was referred to Dr Edward McKeever at the SWAH last year. Edward, as he prefers to be addressed, immediately put me at my ease by explaining to me, in terms that I could understand, what my condition involves, how it was likely to progress, and the treatment pathway going forward. My condition includes my having a small pituitary adenoma, and I was very reassured by Edward’s explanation that this was unlikely to cause me any significant complications and that he would arrange to have it monitored by way of scans at regular intervals. Edward then arranged for the results of the scans to be further reviewed by a neurosurgeon who has then been in contact with me to discuss the results and further put me at my ease. The treatment that Edward has arranged for me involves regular injections and blood monitoring. He liaises with my GP in order to have these carried out at the required intervals, and then conveys the results to the GP, enabling me to see the results myself on the MyChart app. Edward contacts me regularly to keep me updated and to answer any questions that I may have. It cannot be overstated how fortunate I feel to have been referred to Dr McKeever. The very real concerns that I experienced when first confronted with my diagnosis have been very much assuaged by his first class care and treatment, for which I am very grateful.
