Rachael Hough is a Consultant in Haematology and Stem Cell Transplantation at UCL Hospitals and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in Haematology/Transplantation at UCL.
After completing undergraduate training at Nottingham University in 1992, she undertook postgraduate general medical and haematology training in Sheffield. On achieving specialist accreditation, she was awarded a 2-year fellowship in the transplantation of umbilical cord blood. During this time, she gained specific experience in the management of paediatric and adolescent patients and spent 3 months working with Professor John Wagner, at the University of Minnesota, gaining specialist expertise in umbilical cord blood transplantation.
She is now the Clinical Lead of the largest teenage cancer service in the UK and has developed an adolescent-focussed transplant practice. She has also established and chairs the BSBMT Umbilical Cord Blood Working Group and is the Chief Investigator of the 2 NCRI-badged national cord blood transplant protocols.
