Sport & Exercise Medicine Doctor
London, W1G 0AR
Dr Lorenzo Masci is a sports and exercise medicine consultant at ISEH.
Sports and exercise medicine doctors take a holistic approach to the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal conditions. The scope of our practice encompasses almost all musculoskeletal or medical problems associated with physical activity. As most musculoskeletal conditions do not require surgery, we specialise in conservative treatment options to get you back to your usual activity.
In addition to managing many musculoskeletal conditions, Dr Masci has world-wide expertise in UPPER AND LOWER LIMB TENDINOPATHY such as Achilles and Patellar tendinopathy, tennis elbow, hip and groin pain and ultrasound-guided interventions such as injections. By combining clinical assessment with diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided interventions in one visit, he is able to offer a one-stop clinic solution.
As a specialist sports doctor, Dr Masci has worked for a number of elite sporting institutions. He was the lead sports medicine doctor for Wasps Rugby (2011 to 2017), Fulham Football Club (2008 to 2010) and Melbourne Storm Rugby League (2005 to 2007). As a passionate tennis fan, he enjoyed working for Tennis Australia and the Australian Open (2001 to 2007). In addition, he was the medical lead for the Aquatics Centre at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Dr Masci is involved in research and has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers and spoken at numerous international sports medicine conferences, including the Arsenal Football Conference, the Barcelona Football Conference, and the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine. He is currently involved in tendon research at prestigious institutions, including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Imperial University, Queen Mary University, and Brunel University. He is an honorary lecturer at Queen Mary University. He has also narrated and produced an online musculoskeletal ultrasound-guided education programme and is actively involved in teaching Sports and Exercise Medicine graduates at University College London.
In his spare time, Dr Masci enjoys going to the gym, running, and playing tennis. He also loves everything Spanish (especially the culture and, of course, the food!).
