About Mr Jas Singh
Dr Jas Singh is a highly experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon based in Edinburgh, specialising in retinal disorders, macular disease and complex vitreoretinal conditions. He has over 27 years of experience in private practice.
Dr Singh undertook advanced fellowship-level training in vitreoretinal surgery at the Lions Eye Institute in Perth, Australia. He was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist in NHS Lothian in 1998 and has extensive experience in retinal and medical retina care.
His clinical expertise includes vitreoretinal surgery for retinal detachments, diabetic vitreous haemorrhage and macular conditions including macular holes and epiretinal membranes. His other clinical interests include cataract surgery and lens implantation and the management of post-operative concerns. He also offers vitrectomy, cataract surgery and YAG laser capsulotomy.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Singh has held a number of senior leadership and educational roles, including Clinical Director for Ophthalmology in NHS Lothian, Training Programme Director, Regional Advisor and Scottish Lead for Modernising Medical Careers. He has also served as Lead Examiner and Chairman of the Training Committee at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and as a member of the Training Committee of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Dr Singh is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

I was made to feel very welcome when I arrived and the professionalism of the team was excellent making me feel at ease Dr Singh spoke very quietly though and I struggled to hear him which meant I had to ask him to repeat himself a few times. I have hearing issues but was wearing my hearing aids. I did feel a little rushed towards the end of the consultation but overall dr singh was very kind and understanding
