Dr Bipasha Chakrabarty

Dr Bipasha Chakrabarty is a Consultant Histopathologist and the current Head of Histopathology at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. Her responsibilities include reporting in-house biopsies and surgical resection specimens, focusing on gastrointestinal pathology, while also undertaking pathology reviews and providing opinions (pathology consultation) on referred cases. She is pathology lead for The Christie's Gastrointestinal Disease Group and leads mainly in peritoneal surface tumours of colorectal/appendiceal origin and pseudomyxomaShe is also pathology lead for the regional GI Neuroendocrine Tumour Service (certified by the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society as a Centre of Excellence) and network pathology lead for anal cancers.

Dr Chakrabarty obtained her medical (1993) and postgraduate (1996) degrees from India, undertaking specialist training in Histopathology from the North West Deanery in the UK and obtained specialist qualifications (FRCPath, Histopathology) from the Royal College of Pathologists, London, in 2002. She was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in 2004, following which she began her career as a consultant.
