Dr Andrew Iles is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist who works in both private practice and the NHS. He is committed to providing high standards of care in a warm, approachable and respectful way, and is known for helping patients feel at ease from the outset. His approach is collaborative and recovery-focused, with treatment tailored to each individual’s needs, circumstances and goals.
Dr Iles qualified as a doctor in 2004 and completed his postgraduate psychiatry training in London, Oxford, Berkshire and South Wales before becoming a consultant in 2011. He has extensive experience across a wide range of psychiatric settings, including rehabilitation psychiatry, service development, and the leadership of specialist services for patients with complex mental health difficulties, personality difficulties, eating-related problems and significant risk histories. He continues to work within the NHS, overseeing the care of patients with complex mental disorders.
He has particular experience in the assessment and treatment of complex and treatment-resistant mental illness, and is highly experienced in psychopharmacology. This includes the careful review and optimisation of medication for patients whose symptoms have not responded fully to previous treatment or where medication has caused difficulties with tolerability. He places a strong emphasis on thoughtful, evidence-based prescribing as part of a broader treatment plan tailored to the individual.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Iles also acts as an expert witness, providing expert psychiatric evidence to criminal and civil courts and tribunal settings.
