Dr. David Hulse

Dr David Hulse is a consultant in sport and exercise medicine at The Institute of Sport Exercise & Health (ISEH) and Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital. He specialises in cycling medicine, endurance sport, and injury rehabilitation. He has vast experience and has previously been the race doctor for the Tour of Britain and the team physician for World Tour professional cycling teams. His knowledge encompasses cycling biomechanics, training, and injuries.

Dr Hulse is able to assess and diagnose cycling injuries and manage other sports injuries and health issues related to endurance sports. Additionally, he can help his patients with health optimisation and performance coaching. Having been a lifelong cyclist himself, he is aware of just how crucial good health is to human performance.

He earned his medical degree (MBChB) in 1996 from the University of Glasgow before training in trauma and orthopaedic surgery and practising in the field until 2005. He then pursued sports injury rehabilitation and the physiology of athletic training and completed a master's degree in sport and exercise medicine at the University of Nottingham. He was one of the first doctors in the UK to undertake specialisation in sports and exercise medicine in London.

He is dedicated to medical education and has made contributions to the education and development of the cycling industry. Additionally, he has spent time as a consultant at Headley Court, the UK Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, leading lower limb injury rehabilitation and the diagnosis and management of exercise-induced leg pain.
