About Dr Dan Reardon
I'm a doctor with a private practice in Sutton Coldfield that does one thing: a proper review of everything you take.
Most people's medication lists grow over years. A blood pressure reading leads to one prescription, a cholesterol result to another, poor sleep or reflux or a low mood to a third. Each decision may have been sensible at the time. What's often missing, years later, is someone standing back and asking whether the whole picture still makes sense.
That's what the Independent Medication Review is for. We spend 55 minutes going through your history, your medicines, your results and how your health has changed. I then gather what's missing, including records from your GP and any investigations that are needed, and write you a plan: where you are, how you got here, what should change, what shouldn't, and when we check progress. Follow-up and three months of email support are included.
Sometimes the conclusion is that a medicine matters and should stay. Sometimes a different treatment makes more sense. And sometimes, working alongside your GP, there's a safe opportunity to reduce or stop something that no longer earns its place. The aim is the smallest amount of medication your health actually requires, and understanding why.
I trained at Cardiff after a career in athletics and personal training, co-founded and ran a genetics company, and came back to the NHS, where I still work in emergency medicine. That's where I see what a medication list looks like when nobody has stood back and reviewed it. I hold an MSc in Mental Health and a Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine, and I'm registered with the CQC as an independent doctor provider.
Consultations are in person. Family members are welcome to get in touch first, but the appointment is the patient's own.

I can’t recommend Dr Dan Reardon highly enough. I initially saw him about high blood pressure and recurring high uric acid levels. He suspected insulin resistance, which was confirmed by a blood test that apparently very few doctors routinely request. Rather than simply prescribing medication, Dan looked at the underlying causes and recommended changes to my diet, fasting and exercise routine. The results speak for themselves: no more swollen ankles in the last 10 months, uric acid and my blood pressure now under control. It’s refreshing to find someone who looks beyond the symptoms and genuinely wants to get to the root of the problem. Highly recommended!

Amazing doctor! I've been struggling with severe withdrawal symptoms for several months after abruptly stopping an SSRI. At first, I had no idea what was happening to me. I saw numerous doctors, and none of them seemed to know either. They kept prescribing more medications, but each new medication I tried seemed to worsen my symptoms, causing what felt like a kindling effect. Then I found Dr. Reardon, and he was the first doctor who actually took the time to listen to me. He conducted a detailed assessment, gave me the time and space to explain my symptoms and feelings, and took my concerns seriously. He connected the dots and drew meaningful conclusions. The initial session with Dr. Reardon was very thorough and engaging. A forensic exploration of where I am,at the age of 77, included a review of my current medication. The refreshing approach was around what I could manage in taking control of my own approach to a healthy lifestyle and an appropriate exercise regime. A critical appraisal of my current medication was shared with my GP. A series of tests on my heart and blood carrying vessels to my brain were carried out on the same day. A thorough and detailed report was prepared and included recommendations for the future. This was circulated to my GP to influence future treatment. My wife joined me on the initial session and both of us were really impressed with his open manner and his attention to detail. This was the most impressive consultation I have ever been involved in and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who would like a critical review of their health and lifestyle. Roger C.
