About Billy Henderson
Billy Henderson is a Service Engagement Manager at Abbeycare. Prior to joining Abbeycare, he worked as a Manager at Calderglen House, and had a long-standing career at Priory Group, where he served for 17 years.
During his time at Priory Group, he held the role of Addiction Unit Manager for over 8 years. Before becoming an Addiction Unit Manager, he worked as a Senior Therapist specialising in addictions from 2004.
Billy has numerous qualifications including a Post Graduate Diploma in Alcohol and Drug Studies from The University of Paisley, a certificate in CBT: The Five Area Approach from The University of the West of Scotland, and a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from Coatbridge College. He has also completed a Counselling Skills Certificate from West Lothian College and a HNC (Higher National Certificate) in Social Care from Coatbridge College. In 2014, he became an Accredited Drug and Alcohol Practitioner for Addiction Treatment by the Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals.

Great worker and people skills has a great knowledge of both addiction and alcoholism, friendly and empathetic.
Billy has been supportive not only before I came to Abbeycare but he continues to help and encourage me on the road to freedom from addiction whilst being here. If he says he will do something he follows it through, he is approachable and considerate and I can’t thank him enough.
Billy done a group class with us on my final day of stage 1 here at AbbeyCare and he introduced me to a brilliant little book called ‘Keep it Simple’ By Hazelden Publishing . On a very dark morning for me I lost my friend due to addiction And Billy still helped me to see the benefit of keeping a daily gratitude list, Which personally as an addict I could not ever be grateful for much! So this has helped me become grateful.
Billy was a big part of my recovery from day one he really cares about people’s recovery such a genuine guy
Billy took me through the "prehab" phase of my Abbeycare experience and really helped me feel safe and calm about what was ahead. His communications and instructions were always clear and friendly and he generally just helped me arrive at the front door in a well prepared way. Thank you Billy.
