Ms Amrita Mahal is an Advanced Speech & Language Therapist with over 18 years of clinical postgraduate experience, recognised as a highly skilled specialist in her field. As an integral member of Schoen Clinic Chelsea's multidisciplinary team, she plays a key role in the diagnosis of neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and supports individuals across a broad range of communication, voice, and swallowing impairments and disorders.

Her expertise spans both paediatric and adult speech, language, and communication therapy, with a particular focus on the advanced management of complex swallowing disorders (dysphagia). Dr Mahal’s work addresses a wide array of conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, stroke recovery, head and neck cancers, as well as neurodevelopmental and progressive neurological conditions like Parkinson’s Disease and Functional Neurological Disorders.

A specialist in advanced dysphagia management, she provides evidence-based assessments and treatments such as clinical bedside swallow evaluations and functional swallowing rehabilitation using techniques like the McNeil Dysphagia Therapy Program and IQoro therapy. Her deep understanding of the neurophysiology of swallowing ensures comprehensive support for individuals with eating and drinking difficulties.

In addition, Dr Mahal is an advanced practitioner in managing voice disorders. She offers specialised voice therapy, including certified training in the Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) program, and utilises techniques such as laryngeal manipulation and myofascial release therapy to relieve tension and improve vocal function. She supports professional voice users experiencing voice changes or loss and provides expert care for chronic cough and voice impairment related to acid reflux or respiratory conditions. Moreover, she offers Trans Voice and Communication Therapy to help individuals in the transgender community achieve authentic vocal expression.
