Mr Amlani is a consultant ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon in Solihull and Birmingham, with a special interest in children's ENT. He treats children and adults, and has extra training in children's ENT and nose and sinus problems. He sees private patients at MUMS in Solihull and The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham.
For children, Mr Amlani looks into snoring and sleep apnoea, where breathing pauses during sleep. He also treats hearing loss and a nose blocked by allergies. For babies aged 2 to 12 weeks, he offers tongue-tie checks and, where suitable, same-day treatment. Tongue-tie is when tight tissue under the tongue limits movement, which can make feeding harder for some babies. The quick release is called a frenulotomy, and babies can usually feed straight afterwards.
For adults, he treats a constant blocked nose, allergy symptoms, nasal polyps (swellings inside the nose) and chronic sinusitis, where the sinuses stay inflamed for months. He also sees patients with post-nasal drip, hearing loss, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), dizziness and neck lumps. Where needed, he uses a thin camera to look inside the nose (nasal endoscopy). He also offers nasal cautery to help reduce repeated nosebleeds.
Mr Amlani studied medicine at Cambridge and Oxford and trained in ENT surgery in the West Midlands. He then completed further training in children's ENT at Birmingham Children's Hospital. He leads ENT for a network of children's services across the West Midlands, plays a national role in training ENT surgeons and contributes to research.
He takes a whole-person approach and explains every option, including the benefits and risks, so patients and families can decide what is right for them.
