Torry Care Home

Torry care home is situated within the suburbs of Aberdeen City. It has many strong community ties that staff and residents of Torry regularly connect with. Walks around local parks, coffee and pastries in favourite cafes and a drink in a regular pub, these connections help promote positive health and wellbeing of residents.

The dedicated team at Torry work with each resident and their family to create personalised care plans that meet the clinical and lifestyle needs of each individual, understanding that no two residents have the same needs.

Torry Care Home is a purpose built nursing home with room for 78 residents. Having been opened in August 2000, within its 20 years of caring for residents, the home is well established within the community it serves. The home is split into three units named by the residents after Scottish hill ranges.

All rooms have en-suite facilities and are fully furnished. The majority of the rooms are for single occupancy but there is the option for double occupancy in one of their rooms for any couples wishing to share. Each unit has their own lounge and dining areas.

Torry has a minimum of two registered nurses on duty 24 hours a day. The nurses together with the fully trained care staff provide care to the highest possible standard. The team's approach is to put individual residents at the centre and tailor their care plans to their own needs, with a focus on physical and emotional wellbeing at the heart of everything they do.

The home is linked with Holburn Medical Practice (Torry Surgery) who visit the home twice weekly to carry out surgeries. The home has monthly multi-disciplinary meetings with a Consultant Geriatrician from Woodend Hospital and also close links with the local Old Age Psychiatry team with community psychiatric nurses regularly visiting the home, meaning that the residents are supported by local healthcare services should they require it.

The catering services at Torry are of a high standard and all meals are cooked on the premises, with a choice at each mealtime. The cook meets with residents individually to discuss their preferences, dietary requirements and allergens. The cooks pride themselves in preparing fresh, home cooked, nutritious food.

Activities and entertainments are also available for residents to enjoy thanks to the full time activities co-ordinator who runs a program of activities to suit all. Local community groups often visit and the local church organises a service every month for those who wish to attend.

Various other extra services are available as required such as hairdressing, podiatry and newspapers.
