Despite having PSA regularly for a long period of time and after many years of getting up 3-4 times each night to visit the bathroom, things came to a head in May this year (2026) I had to attend A&E on 3 consecutive nights with my prostate problems. After a scan revealed an enlarged prostate i decided after advice to see Mr Aho for a consultation at the Spire in Cambridge in mid June. I was reassured by Mr Aho’s explanation of the HoLEP procedure, he took so much time with me and was considerate and kind regarding my worries due to my age (81) and the size of my prostate - in his words ‘it’s HUGE’ I left the consultation feeling very positive. Two weeks later on the 2nd July, i was admitted to the Princess Grace in London to undergo the HoLEP procedure - this was on the same day. During this procedure Mr Aho also removed bladder stones. After an overnight stay i was discharged home with my plan. My recovery went just as planned, visits in the night have reduced to once and after 15 weeks i now feel 100%. I cannot praise Mr Aho and his team highly enough, from the first consultation to the post operative consultation on the 28th September! This includes everyone at the Princess Grace who were all wonderful. So please do it, go and see Mr Aho NOW!

For some 18 months I suffered with an enlarged benign prostate leading to urinary retention and several painful catheterisations requiring A&E visits. My urologist only offered medication that would take 6 months to work with possible serious side effects. On my brother’s recommendation, I contacted Mr Tev Aho. From my telephone consultation on 11.6.26 to my HoLEP operation at The Princess Grace Hospital on 19.6.26 the care was first class. Mr Aho is approachable, caring and reassuring, as were the anaesthetist, nurses and all hospital staff. I was able to urinate shortly after surgery - such a relief. I stayed an extra night on his advice as I was travelling home by train alone and travelled home on 21.6.26. The operation has changed my life.
