I spent two weeks there at a time of great personal need. The care was exemplary, nurturing, professional and above all tender. It is a year and more later and I am still free of a very long held addiction.
I spent some time at Hay Farm and it was a wonderful experience I was there for alcohol and exhaustion It was a very relaxing experience and the staff were amazing Would highly recommend it
Hay Farm is an exceptional place. When I arrived there, I was feeling desperate (and I don't use that word lightly) but by the time I left I felt that life was worth living again. What makes the clinic so special is that it really doesn't feel like one. The set up makes it feel more like a retreat, but with nursing care available on site 24/7 and doctors and psychiatrists at the end of the phone as and when required. The therapists all have different ways of working and there is the opportunity to work one a one-to-one basis with whoever you feel is the best fit for you. Although I initially felt overwhelmed by the group therapy sessions, in time I came to understand and appreciate their vital role in the healing process. I also loved many of the other aspects of the weekly timetable - cold water therapy, swimming at a local lake and equine therapy were my personal favourites, but I also really enjoyed the music and art therapy groups and learned a great deal from the daily psych ed sessions. There was also the opportunity to take part in external activities twice a week including trips to the local towns and beaches and a ceramics workshop. Both a massage and beauty therapist visit Hay Farm twice a week and the opportunity to have these treatments was really appreciated, again taking the experience out of a clinical setting and making it feel more like a retreat. It wasn't only my interactions with the amazing therapists and nursing staff (as well as my peers) who helped me slowly get better, but also those with the wonderful housekeeping, maintenance and cater...
Read moreI knew that I needed help with alcohol and that it was quite probable that in-patient care was required. I made a number of enquiries to rehabilitation centres and none ticked the boxes quite like this one. I spoke to a lady called Lucy whom was both caring and very understanding as she had been through similar issues herself, the contact with her, despite speaking with a number of other facilities made me feel it was the right place go. I’m pleased that I did. The treatment and staff are fantastic. There’s not a single member of their team, from housekeepers to chefs, and clinical staff that I could honestly say were not, both engaging and helpful and centred towards your recovery. There are many activities to keep you engaged, from music to Ice baths and Lake swims, whilst daunting, you learn that these activities really do help with your recovery. The therapists are of extremely high standard and work well along side you to achieve your goals. I worked with, and continue to work with (as an outpatient) a therapist named Holly, who is inspiring, understanding, and level headed towards my needs and my recovery. Other therapists whom I engaged with during my stay at Hay Farm were of equal calibre and very experienced. It’s refreshing to have the ability to work with a number of highly talented professionals and pick the right fit for you. I wholeheartedly would recommend PROMIS for anyone considering or urgently needing care.
The team at Hay Farm couldn't have been more helpful and reassuring when I contacted them feeling scared and exhausted because my son desperately needed residential care. The admissions process was handled so swiftly, professionally and sensitively, and I felt confident that my son would be in safe and knowledgeable hands. While he was at Hay Farm my son was treated as an adult and given autonomy to explore so many different kinds of therapy. I was given updates of his progress and any concerns of mine were addressed promptly.
I have had significant mental health challenges for decades and been in various treatment centres and had a great deal of outpatient talking therapy. One month in Hay Farm surpassed and had more effect than all the other interventions put together. Since my treatment at Promis, I feel that I finally have the tools to start doing more than just about functioning - I can actually start to live life and thrive! And all this was achieved without me really noticing because of the understated, welcoming, friendly, non-pushy, non-judgemental but exceptionally professional approach of ALL of the staff (and horses) at Hay Farm. Totally life changing.
I have recently spent 4 weeks at Hay Farm following a particularly difficult period in my life, suffering from depression and anxiety which has resulted in alcohol and substance abuse. The environment was friendly and welcoming and really made me feel safe at a time I felt most vulnerable. The entire group of staff were friendly and approachable, supporting all my needs. I particularly appreciated their holistic approach to therapy, adapting this to suit me. There was mixture of daily 121 therapy sessions and group therapy, which allowed me the opportunity to focus on the cause of my mental health issues and develop strategies to improve this. I feel I have really benefitted from my stay here and have made friends for life. I am now continuing my recovery using their out patient service of 121 weekly therapy sessions and applying what I have learnt to try and continue to live a more healthy life style.
I went in very unwell suffering with alcoholism and drug addiction. I was greeted by the staff, with respect, care and understanding for what I needed. I stayed for one month to rehabilitate. And then took Top Up care sessions. Hay Farm staff saved my life and my family
As a family member of someone who has recently stayed at PROMIS Hay Farm, I cannot speak highly enough of them. Nothing seems to be too much trouble, and you feel as though you are talking to real people who actually get to know and care about the people there. Their help with the process of seeking treatment in particular and how to approach talking about this was invaluable.
