“Where to begin? It’s hard to put it into words how much we love Manchester fertility and how thankful we are for the joy they have brought into our lives We had a meeting with a co ordinator a good year before we started treatment, they spoke through our options, answered all our questions and went through payments During treatment everyone was lovely but Sam Potts the head nurse is worth her weight in gold, we had an issue with some pain relief and she talked me through it all step by step really reassured me and kept my partner who couldn’t be with me due to Covid up to date and really made her feel part of the journey even when she couldn’t be physically with me We travelled from Doncaster to use the clinic even though there are several nearer to us and I would do so again purely down to the personal care and professionalism Manchester fertility showed to us. “

Very good up to now. Informed fully every step of the way. The only small area for improvement would be to speed up the whole process a little bit but this may not have been possible. I am very happy overall.

Every time we’ve been there with my partner, we’ve been taken care of by the nurses and other staff in a very friendly manner. It’s very clean and there’s honestly no negative feedback to provide.

Little bit of a wait but not much. Great customer service as always and Mr Modgil was friendly, professional and instilled confidence as always which I want from a medical professional. I would highly recommend anyone to your hospital due to the accuracy and quick timeframe all results arrive in.

Very disappointed with our experience and frustrated with the response given for the care we received. We don’t normally write reviews, but feel the need to write a public, open and honest review following our experience, so that other patients have a good understanding of the service they may receive before they handover large sums of money. This was our second round of ivf , and our first paying private. This company was recommended by Dr Mather at St Mary’s, who also works there as a clinical advisor one day a week. Our IVF experience took place in July/ August when safety routines and changes were put into place following COVID. It became quickly apparent that this company were not ready for these changes and did not have the capacity to give personalised care to their patients, which I can only believe they did before. I did not experience a high standard of care, in comparison to St Mary’s, and would not recommend them until they make the necessary changes around patient care. This is a very honest review. All these points have been shared with Alison Kay, the quality manager, whose only response was to tell me the nurse in question was spoken to and apologised. Because of my complaint, she suggested I access their counselling service, which I found offensive as this implied I had no right to complain and there was something wrong with my emotional state. Not once did Amanda call to discuss our complaint, she only exchanged through emails. We lost complete confidence with the clinic and embryologists and would not return, or recommend. It took us over a month to get the Doctify code to write this review which implies they did not want to receive negative, honest reviews. Negatives: - the protocol given mirrored that of St Mary’s, even though my AMH levels had improved drastically between cycles and I was now in the correct range for my age. I’ve since had consultations with other companies that recognise the failure here as I was given such high doses, when it was not needed. - I was on the highest medication and my first scan was planned for day 10. When seeing this I made contact with the nurses to inform them this was my egg collection last time, and surely I should have a scan to monitor progress before day 10- this was changed thankfully as, like my previous cycle, egg retrieval was day 10. - Due to Covid restrictions, the male is not allowed to give his sperm sample on the morning of egg retrieval. I asked the nurse if this had to be the case because my husband was nervous to transport it. She said it was one of the restrictions as we lived 30mins from the clinic. On the morning of egg retrieval, we had an hour to get the sperm sample and transport it to the clinic. On arrival, the sperm had been taken 40 mins before. I waited in a room with no contact for 10 mins and became very anxious. When the nurse greeted me I asked her could I give her the sperm sample immediately. Her response was ‘ ooh don’t give that to me’. I was flabbergasted that a nurse in a fertility clinic would say such a thing! I had to ask two more times for somebody to collect it - 55 mins after it had been taken! - on arrival to the ward, the same nurse and receptionist greeted me and asked where my husband was as HE had filled our permission forms out wrong. These were the forms they sent to us the night before, so I was very confused. The receptionist tried to calm the situation down as she could see I was anxious, but the same nurse mentioned previously said ‘what shall I do if the forms are wrong?’ This is certainly not how you want to be greeted when you’re about to have egg retrieval. It turns out there had been a huge GDPR breach and my husband had filled in and signed the wrong forms, data admin had given him the wrong patient number. This called for all forms to be checked for the last 3 months to ensure there was not another error! - we retrieved 11 eggs which was more than st Marys. When the embryologist called me the next day to tell me how many had fertilised he told me the date for embryo transfer and he will call back. I expressed my concern that I transferred on day 3 last time and was concerned they were going to push to day 5. He told me that this was their policy. Something I didn’t know when we signed up. - on day 3, the embryologist called to say unfortunate my embryos were ‘abnormal’ and none survived. The word abnormal left us confused as we had not had any genetic testing on our embryos and nothing was mentioned about their growth, how many cells etc Dr Mathur told us in our follow up that abnormal is an emotive word and shouldn’t be used to describe embryo growth. - we wanted to have an immediate appointment with our consultant, Dr Peter, to discuss what went wrong at the embryo stage. We were told that an appointment with our consultant would take 4 weeks. This was the same amount of time at the NHS and we could not believe it after we had paid £6000 and would have to speak to a consultant that did not know our case. - Following our complaints, we were given Dr Mathur the week after, who explained that Manchester Fertility is a business! We came away with little hope of our fertility future. We have since seen other consultants who seem to be a lot more tuned in to individual patient needs and design protocols based on their current results. Positives: - the reception team are welcoming. - the salve app allows you to contact different teams easily and monitor you appointments and medication. - the ward nurse Angela, was amazing and reassuring following an unprofessional encounter at egg retrieval. - Natalie Beswick, dealt with our complaint initially and was very apologetic for our experiences.
