The operation was painless and very successful. My eye was not even bloodshot though my vision was blurry for a full day afterwards. However after 3 days it is excellent. My only criticism is the unnecessary waiting time. We waited an hour with no explanation in a boring room, just sitting in a row while various staff popped in and out with paperwork and didn't pay any attention to us. After an hour taken into another room and given drops to dilate the eye, then another room and another hour wait (at least this time it had a purpose). We all sat in chairs round the room and the T.V. was set on a wall at such an angle only a few chairs could see it. The T.V was showing a silent film on making sushi, which was attractive but a interesting choice. All this silent waiting made it more stressful as I was already nervous. It would have been nice if, when we arrived, we had been shown the lockers but I didn't find out where they were until I had my operation
Impossible to speak to anyone in Cambridge which was very frustrating. am used to being seen privately and this did not come up to the usual standard. Although the staff were very polite and friendly I felt that nobody was sure what to do and did not fill me with confidence. I have never gone privately and only seen the surgeon on the day of the operation with no follow up appointment with the actual surgeon. I was left with a cut on the skin to the left of my eye and an indentation across my eyebrow which I feel had probably been caused by the clamp used to keep my eyelid open. I was left feeling that for some reason the private sector in Cambridge was struggling. A great pity.
