Each nurse has a different protocol. I still had effects of the general anaesthetic and having 4 bottles of drain attached to my head to carry, a nurse taught me how to go to the toilet on my own (she was apparently too busy to help me). However another nurse told me I shouldn’t do it on my own. I was very sick after the surgery. I told the nurse about that but she kept offering me food and water, instead of stabilising my sickness. Then I threw up and she applied an injection to control my sickness. I rested a bit. When I woke up I told her I was ready for dinner (after 24h of empty stomach). Her reply was that the kitchen was already closed and she gave me some yogurt. I couldn’t chew, but later, I was still starving and asked for an “easy to chew” food. She offered me a sandwich with a very hard ham. I couldn’t chew, because I had facelift. I was starving and extremely weak! In the morning, time for breakfast. I thought they would prioritise me, since I only had a pot of yogurt in the past 30 hours. I asked for my breakfast to different nurses about 4 times with a gap of 30 min to 1 hour between requests (something that I shouldn’t ask for!!!). Then, it was already too late to have my breakfast. For some reason they didn’t bring it to me. The only thing they had for me was Weetabix with some milk. I raised a complaint to my plastic surgeon in front of a nurse. After that, the service improved. In general, nurses were in a rush, some didn’t have common sense to adjust the temperature in my bedroom (it was the hottest day of the year and I wasn’t aware about the aircon in my bedroom!) and they left the window open with light in my eyes after having blepharoplasty and disturbing noises from the cars outside. Everything was so wrong and I was so tired to ask for everything all time.
