Consultant was great but no one else seemed to know what they were doing. I was sent to one place to book an ultrasound, another for a blood test but initially no one there, then given an email address to book my own echocardiogram. I had to remind them I needed to give info for my private heath care, as they didn’t ask, just took swipe of my credit card.

HCA ancillary staff were excellent and friendly, putting me at ease. The one exception is that despite being fully covered by private medical insurance (incl pre-authorisation codes and competing multiple online forms and confirming details) the HCA administrative/ reception staff on arrival were overly focused on (and their primary priority is to) obtain credit card details and associated authorisation for extra procedures and tests which go beyond the scope of the referral and pre-authorisation in case suggested. The requested authorisation is open-ended and requested at a point when patients are vulnerable. The HCA admin staff were unable to explain why authorisation was required in my circumstances with full insurance coverage - all they could manage was a weak “it’s just our process”.
