Dr. Kothari did his initial undergraduate degree in Medical Sciences from Peterhouse, University of Cambridge; graduating with 1st class honours. He then went on to complete his medical training at The University of Oxford, graduating in 2001. After his training, he subsequently worked in London, completing haematology training at University College Hospital London, including an advanced fellowship focused on the comprehensive treatment of myeloma and related conditions. Dr. Kothari specialises in the treatment of myeloma, lymphoma and associated disorders.

Dr. Kothari is a co-chair of the Thames Valley regional myeloma multi-disciplinary team meeting and was appointed as an honorary Senior Lecturer in Haematology at The University of Oxford in October 2016. He is also a trustee of the charity WMUK and has a special interest in the management of this disorder and associated conditions.

In addition to his practice, Dr. Kothari is keen and passionate about medical resarch, as the Clinical Lead for late phase clinical trials for haematology at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust. He has a wide-reaching overview and understanding of clinical trials and the development of novel therapeutics and acts as a Principal Investigator (PI) for trials in myeloma and lymphoma. He is also the chief investigator for a national trial in relapsed low-grade lymphoma; working for a better future for cancer treatment.
