Dr Muhammad Azam

Muhammad Azam is a Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatologist at Wexford General Hospital and holds an academic appointment as Clinical Associate Professor with University College Dublin, as well as an Honorary Clinical Professor appointment with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He undertakes clinical work in general paediatrics, neonatology, and emergency paediatrics, including inpatient care, outpatient clinics, neonatal unit activity, and participation in acute paediatric services. He works as Clinical Lead of the Paediatric Department at Wexford General Hospital and is involved in departmental organisation, rota management, clinical governance, service planning, and liaison with hospital management and national professional bodies.

He is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education linked to UCD and RCSI and contributes to teaching, supervision, assessment, and examination activities. His academic work includes ongoing participation in clinical audit, research projects, quality improvement initiatives, and guideline development within paediatric and neonatal services. His role integrates clinical service delivery with teaching, supervision, and academic activity across hospital and community child health settings.
