Ms. Margaret O'Donnell

Ms. Margaret O'Donnell is a highly respected Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with over two decades of clinical experience. She now works part-time in clinical practice, having recently been appointed as the Group Medical Director of the Blackrock Healthcare Group, overseeing Blackrock, Galway, and Hermitage Clinics. A graduate of University College Dublin in 1984, Ms. O'Donnell trained extensively in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Australia before her appointment as Consultant Plastic Surgeon to both St. Vincent’s University Hospital and St. James’s Hospital in Dublin. She held this joint post from 1998 to 2008, during which time she served as the Lead Consultant in the National Burns Unit at St. James’s Hospital.

Ms. O'Donnell has long held a special interest in patient safety and human factors in healthcare. She has lectured on these subjects as a Special Lecturer at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), and since 2017, she has delivered workshops and webinars for Medical Protection (MPS) across both the UK and Ireland. Her leadership in plastic surgery includes her term as President of the Irish Association of Plastic Surgeons from 2014 to 2016. She was also appointed to the Advisory Committee for Medical Devices of the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA), serving two terms. Since 2018, she has been a member of the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
