Dr. Yasmin Kottait

Dr Yasmin Kottait is a Specialist Paediatric Dentist with over 20 years of experience in children’s dentistry, practising at Sunshine Land Paediatric Dentistry. Her clinical interests span paediatric orthodontics, tongue-tie care, dentistry for children with special needs and sleep medicine. She also has training in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and autism care, which supports her approach to providing individualised, compassionate dental treatment for children with different needs. As a Certified Autism Specialist accredited by IBCCES, she is committed to making dental care more accessible and comfortable for young patients. Her gentle approach aims to ease the anxiety and fear that children may associate with dental visits, helping create a more positive experience for both children and their parents.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Kottait is dedicated to advancing paediatric dentistry through education, professional training and international collaboration. She is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and regularly travels to the UK to deliver workshops and training courses for fellow dental professionals. As an international conference speaker, she shares her knowledge on subjects including helping children feel more comfortable during dental visits, caring for children with autism and other additional needs, preventing childhood dental problems, nitrous oxide sedation and ergonomics in dental practice. Her teaching also explores ways to improve clinical standards while maintaining the empathy and human connection that are central to patient care.

Dr Kottait’s contributions have been recognised through multiple awards, including MEA Awards in both 2018 and 2019. Beyond the clinic, she has volunteered with an international charity foundation in developing countries, participating in oral hygiene awareness campaigns and educational plays for children to promote dental health. Her work brings together clinical practice, professional education and community outreach, with a focus on improving children’s dental experiences and raising standards of care in paediatric dentistry.
