Dr Walid Shaker is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Clemenceau Medical Center and an Associate Professor at Ain Shams University Hospitals with over 27 years of experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Dr Shaker completed his medical degree in Cairo, Egypt in 1993, followed by the completion of his master’s degree (MSc) in 1997. He earned a PhD in Cardiothoracic Surgery in 2003. Dr Shaker later completed fellowships in minimally invasive cardiac surgery in France, including at Pierre et Marie Curie University, Saint Joseph and George Pompidou European Hospital in Paris, and Claude Bernard University in Lyon at Cardiac Center Louis Pradel.

For the past 15 years, Dr Shaker has been an integral part of many government and private hospitals in the UAE, contributing significantly to the field by performing a high volume of high-quality open-heart surgeries.

Dr Shaker has expertise in wide range of advanced procedures, including high-risk coronary bypass surgery, valve replacement and repair surgery, minimally invasive keyhole surgery, thoracic aorta surgery, ablation surgery for arrhythmias, adult congenital surgery, cardiac and mediastinal tumour surgery, and thoracoscopic surgery.
