Dr. Rafia Rahim

Dr Rafia Rahim is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist. With a career spanning over 27 years, she brings extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions in adults and adolescents. She completed her MBBS at Trivandrum Medical College under Kerala University in India, followed by certification in Psychiatry from the Arab Board of Medical Specialisation in Syria. She is also a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in the UK.

Dr Rahim began her career at the Behavioural Sciences Institute, part of Al Ain Hospital, a prominent tertiary-level teaching hospital under SEHA in the UAE. During her long tenure there, she provided both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care to individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Her role also involved mentoring psychiatry residents, medical students, and interns, contributing to the next generation of mental health professionals.

At Medcare Royal Specialty Hospital, Dr Rahim offers specialised psychiatric care with a strong focus on culturally sensitive, patient-centred approaches. She is skilled in managing mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar affective disorders, schizophrenia, delusional and psychotic disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She also treats adolescent psychiatric conditions from the age of 14 and has experience in managing adult ADHD. As part of her treatment strategies, she incorporates electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and conducts psychiatric assessments for patients undergoing surgery.

She is fluent in Arabic, English, Hindi, and Malayalam.
