Dr. Paul Macnamara

Dr Paul MacNamara, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon certified by the UK Board, brings over 25 years of experience with advanced techniques aimed at facilitating swifter recovery from major surgeries. His primary focus lies in performing both primary and revision knee replacement surgeries and hip replacement surgeries. Dr MacNamara is also an expert in addressing soft-tissue knee injuries, including meniscus tears and cruciate ligament injuries. Renowned for his expertise, he is considered one of the top hip replacement and knee replacement surgeons in Dubai, UAE, having worked in tertiary hospitals across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, the UK, and Saudi Arabia.

Dr MacNamara's orthopaedic training in the UK was centred in London, and he gained valuable experience at The Robert Jones Agnes Hunt Hospital, the UK’s largest joint replacement centre. His training encompassed advanced techniques, including enhanced recovery protocols to speed up patients' recovery from major surgeries. Additionally, Dr MacNamara pursued fellowship training in Toronto, Canada, where he performed primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasties while imparting knowledge to fellow residents.

Further enriching his experience, Dr MacNamara completed two additional fellowships—one in a Military Hospital in Bogota, Colombia, and another through a British Orthopaedic Association Travelling fellowship to Shanghai and Beijing. Throughout his training, he actively presented and published papers on a diverse range of orthopaedic subjects, demonstrating his keen interest in teaching junior surgeons. In recognition of his teaching excellence, Dr MacNamara received the Excellence in Teaching award for UAE University in 2017.
