About Dr. Kurt Schlemmer
Dr Kurt Schlemmer is a surgeon specialising in neurotology and lateral skull base surgery in Abudhabi.He uses evidence-based therapies in his practice and is passionate about patient-centred care. He is a former director of the Durban Cochlear Implant Program, a research associate at the University of Pretoria, and an honorary lecturer at UKZN.
Dr Schlemmer completed his training in medicine and surgery at the University of Pretoria before working in emergency medicine and anaesthetics. He then specialised in ENT at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and went on to obtain the FCORL (SA) with distinction from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2011. He later achieved a Master's degree (MMED) in ENT, Head and Neck Surgery in 2014. Following this, he developed a particular interest in head and neck surgery including thyroid and parathyroid surgery, skull base surgery, neurotology (inner ear surgery for hearing and balance) and implantable devices.
Dr Schlemmer is dedicated to his education and has been taught by some of the world's best in his profession. He has travelled to over 14 countries in order to broaden his expertise and share his knowledge.
He has also delivered over 40 academic presentations and published his work in international peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, he is a reviewer for the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology as well as Cochlear Implants International

Dr. Kurt has been exceptional in oversight of our three year old daughter, when we have visited him for paediatric ENT issues. He has very good technical medical expertise .Our daughter recently had her adenoids surgically removed by Dr. Kurt as daycare surgury, and the procedure and post treatment has gone extremely well. He has an excellent bed side manner and was very kind and engaged in explaining things to us. Highly recommended.
Dr Schlemmer is a very patient and attentive doctor. He takes the time needed to explain everything and answer your questions. That’s the main thing a worried patient need. I thank him for the good care.
Dr Schlemmer was our child's doctor and he helped us through the process of diagnosing his ear clogging (which had been causing repetitive infections), treating it, and eventually carrying out surgery to clear the liquid contained in the middle ear. The surgery was successful and our son can now hear clearly and has made s recovery. Dr Schlemmer is the most professional doctor our family has been with in the UAE. He communicates clearly, shows a huge amount of patience, listens to our concerns and, overall, is an excellent doctor. We are very pleased with our experience with him.
