Dr Imran Mushtaq

Dr. Imran Mushtaq is a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in the field of psychiatry. He has received training in the United Kingdom and is licensed by the Dubai Health Authority in the UAE, as well as the General Medical Council in the UK and the Irish Medical Council in Ireland. Dr. Mushtaq has a calm and gentle demeanour with his patients and specialises in assessing, diagnosing, and treating children and young people with mental health issues and disorders. He is currently accepting referrals for children and adolescents at First Psychiatry Clinic. 

Initially starting his career as a paediatrician, Dr. Mushtaq later developed a keen interest in psychiatry. He has worked as a consultant psychiatrist in the UK, Australia, and Ireland. He is recognised as a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in the UK. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in teaching, training, and supervising medical students, junior doctors, nurses, and higher trainees in child and adolescent psychiatry in the UK, Ireland, and Australia. Additionally, he holds an honorary position with a medical university in Africa.

While Dr. Mushtaq is equipped to treat a wide range of psychiatric disorders, he specialises in ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Learning Difficulties/Learning Disabilities, Behavioural Problems/Oppositional Behaviours, Depression, and Anxiety Disorders. He has a particular interest in Systemic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches.

Dr. Mushtaq's therapeutic methods encompass a variety of holistic approaches to support individuals in overcoming their difficulties and challenges. He is fluent in English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi, enabling him to effectively communicate with diverse patients.

With a strong commitment to research, Dr. Mushtaq has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. He has also presented at national and international conferences in the UK, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Furthermore, he serves as a reviewer for journal articles related to child and adolescent mental health. Dr. Mushtaq is a published children's writer in the Urdu language, with many award-winning children's books to his name. He also serves as the chief editor of an Urdu Children's monthly magazine.
