Dr. Alero Adjene

Dr. Alero Adjene is a highly skilled Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist with expertise in treating a wide range of endocrine disorders. Her journey in the field began with a BSc in Physiology and Pharmacology from University College London, followed by medical studies at Imperial College London.

Throughout her career, Dr. Adjene has worked at prestigious centres of endocrinology in London, where she developed her expertise in managing various endocrine conditions. Her special interests lie in type 1 diabetes, insulin pump therapy, and diabetic foot disease.

Dr. Adjene is committed to education and has played a pivotal role in developing educational programs aimed at empowering individuals living with type 1 diabetes. Notably, she led the team that created the ICLDC Structured Education Programme, a valuable resource for diabetes education. She also serves as an educational supervisor on ICLDC’s Fellowship Training Programme, where she shares her knowledge and expertise with aspiring endocrinologists. Additionally, Dr. Adjene is actively involved in teaching on various courses, including the ICLDC MRCP Exam Preparation course and the Diabetes Educator course. Her dedication to education extends beyond borders, as she has conducted teaching visits to West Africa in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians London, raising awareness about non-communicable diseases in the region.

Beyond her clinical and educational endeavours, Dr. Adjene serves as a clinical director for the Healthy Athletes Programme of the Special Olympics, where she contributes to the well-being of athletes with determination. Her involvement in events like the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 and the MENA Games 2018 shows her commitment to promoting health and inclusivity in sports.
