During his tenure as a GP Partner in a heavily-deprived region with a patient base of 18,000 individuals, Dr Banerjee witnessed the stark health inequalities that persisted in society. This experience shaped his life's work, motivating him to address and combat these disparities in healthcare access. In recognition of his exceptional dedication, he was elected twice consecutively to the role of NHS Chairman for his regional commissioning group. In this capacity, he oversaw the management of a substantial £530 million budget, providing essential services to a vast population of over 300,000 patients.

The genesis of HarleyDoc arose from Dr Banerjee's desire to assist patients who prioritize their and their family's health but find themselves unsatisfied with the services offered in the public sector. The primary aim of HarleyDoc is to offer rapid access to high-quality private healthcare, often ensuring same-day appointments with carefully-vetted, highly qualified, and experienced medical professionals. By providing such expedited services, HarleyDoc seeks to reduce the strain on NHS waiting lists and contribute to enhancing overall healthcare accessibility.
