About Mr William Edwards
Mr William Edwards is an Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Melbourne with a specialist focus on foot and ankle surgery, particularly sports trauma and reconstructive procedures. He has built a dedicated specialist practice in Richmond, where he treats both adolescents and adults with a wide range of foot and ankle conditions.
Mr Edwards also has a strong academic background, having taught anatomy at both the University of Melbourne and Stanford University. He continues to contribute to medical education as a Senior Tutor in the Department of Anatomy at the University of Melbourne and supervises doctoral students in foot and ankle anatomy research.
In addition to his clinical and academic work, he plays an active role in professional organisations, including the Australian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and the Medico-Legal Society of Victoria. I had an ankle surgery done by Mr Edwards, the surgery was sucessful with him finding another damaged tendon which he also fixed. His explanation of the afrer care was clear and precise. I truly thank him for his services. Thank you.

Dr Edwards is very lovely doctor and he very good at his job that I have had both my ankles fixed by him and they have been so much better that I'm super happy and thankful to him
I’m very happy with the outcome of the surgery and believe Will is an excellent surgeon. I also think I was given excellent guidance about post-operative pain management, recovery and rehab. Suggestion to be even better: In hindsight I feel I didn’t really get much information about what would actually be done in the surgery. Will talks fast and reels off information which is of course unfamiliar to non-medically trained patients. It would be even better if printed information with more detail was provided about the procedures. I realise I could have asked more questions before the surgery but the whole consultation appointment moves quickly and it’s all over before you know it. Ideally you’d hear “In the surgery I’ll be doing x,y and z. I may need to decide about a, b and c once I’m in there and can assess 1,2 and 3. Here is some written information about the procedures I’ll be doing.” I had no idea for example that bone would be removed from metatarsal and toes. Would that have made any difference? No but I realise how I just trusted Will as the surgeon to do the best by me. I really only understood at a high level what would be done - ie, bunion removal and toe straightening.
A highly professional and knowledgeable gentleman who provides a no fuss straightforward explanation. My surgery went beautifully and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you.
Mr Edwards made me feel at ease. Explained all the operation. Follow up was also great. Very professional, knowledgeable and happy to explain anything requested. Highly recommended IF a surgeon is required.
