Dr Justin Lade

Dr Justin Lade is an orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in hip and knee surgery. His areas of expertise include primary and revision hip and knee joint replacement, knee arthroscopy, sports injuries, ligament reconstruction, patellofemoral osteoarthritis and instability, hip abductor tendon reconstruction, and fracture and trauma management. He also provides general orthopaedic care, including foot and ankle and upper limb surgery, as well as general paediatric trauma and fracture management.

Dr Lade completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours at the University of Melbourne in 1993 and completed his orthopaedic training in 2002. He subsequently undertook overseas fellowship training, including an Arthroplasty Fellowship at Western Hospital in Toronto, Canada, in 2005 and an Arthroplasty Fellowship at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, UK, in 2006/7. His fellowship training included hip and knee arthroplasty and revision surgery, arthroscopy, soft tissue reconstruction and ACL reconstructive surgery.

From 2007 to 2012, Dr Lade held senior consultant orthopaedic positions with Southern and Western Health Services, where he was involved in the professional development of orthopaedic registrars. He was co-Head of Unit at Western Health. He continued to teach final-year orthopaedic registrars and received the AOA Tass Paxinos Award for Victorian Registrar Teaching in both 2010 and 2011.

Dr Lade has been involved in orthopaedic research, publications and professional presentations across areas including joint arthroplasty, fracture surgery, lower limb injuries and osteoarthritis. He was also a co-founder and developer of the Clinman Surgical Audit System.

His professional affiliations include the Australian Orthopaedic Association, Australian Medical Association and Australian Arthroplasty Society. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
