Dr Vinay Garbharran

Dr Vinay Garbharran is a highly qualified Psychiatrist specialising in Child, Adolescent, and Family Psychiatry, while also providing comprehensive care to adult patients. He focuses on assisting patients through diagnostic clarification and detailed case formulation, subsequently tailoring treatment plans to meet individual needs. His clinical approach is collaborative, often involving medication management alongside close coordination with Allied Health Practitioners to ensure holistic support.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Garbharran specialises in the assessment and management of eating disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). He is also highly experienced in treating anxiety and mood disorders, behavioural disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, trauma, and attachment disorders. To support his patients, he utilises diverse treatment modalities, including psychotherapy, family interventions, and evidence-based group therapy programmes. He has also served as a Director of Eating Disorder Services, establishing specialised day programmes to support young people through various stages of their recovery.

Dr Garbharran completed his medical training at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. After gaining clinical experience in South Africa and the United Kingdom, he relocated to Australia. In 2005, he achieved his specialist qualifications in Psychiatry, alongside an Advanced Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Dedicated to advancing his field, he also holds an academic appointment as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Applied Psychology at a leading university, where he has been actively involved in teaching medical students, Registrars, and Psychologists, as well as participating in clinical research programmes.
