Dr Verity Ahern

Dr Verity Ahern is a highly accomplished Radiation Oncologist who specialises in the treatment of breast cancer and paediatric malignancies. As a leading Specialist in her field, Dr Ahern is dedicated to delivering the highest technical standards of radiation therapy. She works closely within multidisciplinary teams to ensure that each patient receives a highly co-ordinated, evidence-based, and reassuring treatment plan. Her clinical approach focuses on integrating advanced technologies to improve patient outcomes while minimising treatment-related side effects.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Ahern holds significant leadership roles, serving as the Director of a regional radiation oncology network. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor, contributing actively to the education and training of future medical professionals. Dr Ahern is deeply involved in clinical research and has served as a Principal Investigator and Trial Chairperson for several national and international clinical trials. Her pioneering work includes advocating for the introduction of advanced particle therapy in Australia and leading initiatives to modernise techniques such as total body irradiation.

Dr Ahern obtained her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR). Following her specialist training in Sydney, she completed a prestigious fellowship in paediatric radiation oncology at a renowned children's hospital in Toronto, Canada. She further refined her expertise working at a major breast cancer practice in London, United Kingdom. Dr Ahern is an active member of numerous professional bodies, including the Children's Oncology Group of North America, and has previously served as the Chair of the Paediatric Special Interest Group of her professional college.
