Dr Pecky (Upeksha) De Silva

Dr. Upeksha (Pecky) De Silva is a Vascular and Endovascular surgeon. She serves as the Clinical Director of Surgical Services at Sydney Adventist Hospital and is the Chair of NSW RACS. She is also chair of the Women in Surgery Committee at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). Additionally, she is a member of the CHASM (Collaborative Hospitals Audit of Surgical Mortality) committee of NSW. Dr. De Silva is also a clinical lecturer in the discipline of surgery at the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School within the faculty of medicine and health, University of Sydney.

Surgical Training

Dr. De Silva completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales. She then undertook junior surgical training at various hospitals in Sydney. Her vascular surgery training included positions in Australia and internationally, with a year at the National University Hospital in Singapore and another year at the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh. She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Vascular Surgery.

Admitting Rights

Dr. De Silva has admitting rights at Sydney Adventist Hospital and serves as a visiting medical officer in vascular surgery at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.

Dr. De Silva provides comprehensive vascular and endovascular treatments with specific interests in:

• Varicose veins and venous ulcers
• Peripheral vascular disease, particularly in diabetics
• Aortic aneurysms
• Arterio-venous fistula creation and management
• Popliteal artery entrapment syndrome
• Chronic compartment syndrome
