Dr Timothy Pianta

Dr Timothy Pianta is a highly qualified Nephrologist and Renal Physician who provides comprehensive care across the entire spectrum of kidney health and disease. With a patient-centred approach, he specialises in diagnosing and managing complex renal conditions, ensuring that individuals receive tailored, reassuring, and evidence-based treatment. His clinical practice encompasses a wide range of kidney-related concerns, from early-stage interventions to the management of advanced renal disorders.

Dr Pianta has a particular interest in the management of hypertension, the early detection and follow-up of acute kidney injury, and the treatment of glomerular and tubulointerstitial diseases. He is also highly skilled in managing chronic kidney disease and its associated complications, as well as overseeing kidney replacement therapies and supporting patients through the complexities of kidney transplantation. His dedication to clinical excellence ensures that patients and their families receive the highest standard of support throughout their treatment journey.

Dr Pianta completed his medical degree with Honours at the University of Melbourne. He was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2011, following extensive postgraduate training across several tertiary health services in Victoria and New South Wales. He subsequently obtained a PhD from the University of New South Wales, focusing his research on acute kidney injury and delayed graft function in kidney transplantation. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Pianta holds an academic appointment in Medical Education at the University of Melbourne, where he teaches and examines medical students, supervises postgraduate research, and serves as a regular Clinical Examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
