Dr Thanh Phan

Dr Thanh Phan is a highly accomplished Neurologist and Stroke Specialist dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients experiencing complex neurological conditions. With a primary focus on cerebrovascular disease, he has established himself as a leading figure in the management of acute stroke, transient ischaemic attacks (TIA), and minor stroke. Dr Phan is deeply committed to improving patient outcomes through the development of rapid triaging systems and innovative clinical pathways, ensuring that individuals receive timely and effective treatment when every second counts.

Dr Phan completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of New South Wales. He subsequently undertook advanced specialist training, completing fellowships in Epilepsy, Neurology, Stroke, and Neurocritical Care in Cerebrovascular Disease, which included intensive training in Rochester, United States. In 2008, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Melbourne for his groundbreaking doctoral thesis on the applications of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in acute ischaemic stroke. Dr Phan is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) and has previously been recognised as a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Postgraduate Research Scholar.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Phan is a passionate researcher and educator who actively contributes to the advancement of neurological science. He leads major research initiatives focusing on neuroimaging, data mining, and the clinical trial design of treatments for acute ischaemic stroke. His academic work extends to the supervision of doctoral candidates and the training of future Medical Specialists and Advanced Physician Trainees. Through his ongoing dedication to clinical trials and health service modelling, Dr Phan continues to shape modern stroke care protocols, bringing the latest scientific advancements directly to his patients.
