Dr Terence Alexander

Dr Terence Alexander is a highly accomplished and reassuring Specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon based in Brisbane, Australia. With a clinical focus on providing gentle, evidence-based care, he specialises in diagnosing and surgically treating a wide range of conditions affecting the mouth, jaws, face, and neck. Dr Alexander is particularly renowned for his expertise in orthognathic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and advanced dental implantology. Dr Alexander completed his foundational dental training at the University of the Witwatersrand, graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 1987. During his studies, he was recognised with the PROSSA prize for clinical fixed prosthodontics and the Lester Brown award in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery. After serving as a Lieutenant in the military, he undertook advanced specialist training, completing a fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in South Africa. In 1997, he obtained his Master of Dentistry in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery from the University of the Witwatersrand, where he was awarded the prestigious Medal of the South African Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons for being the most outstanding candidate. To transition his specialist practice to Australia, he successfully completed the Australian Dental Council examinations in 2009.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Alexander has held significant leadership and academic roles. He previously served as the head of a major orthognathic surgery unit before relocating to Brisbane, where he now operates in private practice. Dedicated to training the next generation of dental professionals, he works as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer and Course Coordinator in the Discipline of Oral Surgery at the University of Queensland, and has also lectured at Griffith University. Dr Alexander regularly attends international seminars to integrate the latest surgical advancements into his practice, ensuring his patients receive the highest standard of modern care.
