Dr Sunil Datta

Dr Sunil Datta is a dedicated and highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive mental health care in both public and private settings. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, Dr Datta works closely with individuals to support their recovery and improve their overall well-being, regardless of the complexity or severity of their condition. His clinical practice is characterised by a commitment to delivering personalised treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each patient.

Throughout his career, Dr Datta has developed a diverse range of clinical interests, with a particular focus on anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and addictive disorders. He also has expertise in managing personality disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and sexual disorders. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Datta has a strong interest in research, particularly focusing on social anxiety and the side-effects of psychotropic medications. He is also actively involved in the medical community, supervising both General Practitioners and Psychiatrists in training, and running liaison programmes to support local healthcare providers.

Dr Datta obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MB BS) in 1984, followed by a Master of Child Health (MCH) in the same year. Committed to maintaining the highest standards of psychiatric practice, he achieved his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) in 1995. He remains an active contributor to professional bodies, serving on the psychotherapy committee of the Royal College and the domestic violence committee.
