Dr Sukitha Mahanama

Dr Sukitha Mahanama is a dedicated and highly qualified General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. He began his medical career internationally, practising in both Sri Lanka and Singapore before relocating to Australia. Upon his arrival, he gained extensive clinical experience working across various public hospitals in South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria. This diverse background in acute hospital settings allowed him to transition seamlessly into community-based General Practice, where he continues to support patients of all ages and backgrounds.

Dr Mahanama completed his medical education at the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2006. Committed to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, he obtained his Australian Medical Council certificate in 2019. He is also a recognised Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, a prestigious professional membership that highlights his expertise and dedication to the field of General Practice.

With a broad scope of practice, Dr Mahanama has developed key clinical interests in several areas of medicine. He is particularly passionate about chronic disease management, dermatology, and skin cancer care, offering thorough assessments and personalised treatment plans. Additionally, his extensive hospital background has equipped him with strong skills in emergency medicine, trauma medicine, and aged care. He also enjoys supporting families through child health and men's health services, ensuring that every patient receives compassionate and evidence-based care.
