Assoc Prof Stuart Lyon

Associate Professor Stuart Lyon is a highly accomplished Interventional Radiologist and Endovascular Specialist who is dedicated to providing advanced, minimally invasive treatment options. With a patient-centred approach, Assoc Prof Lyon focuses on delivering state-of-the-art care that offers patients viable alternatives to traditional open surgery. He collaborates closely with a diverse range of medical Specialists, including Gynaecologists, Vascular Surgeons, and Urologists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated treatment pathways that prioritise patient comfort and recovery.

Throughout his career, Assoc Prof Lyon has developed a particular clinical interest in the endovascular management of complex arterial and venous diseases. His clinical expertise encompasses a wide array of specialised procedures, including uterine fibroid embolisation, pelvic congestion syndrome treatments, and the management of varicose veins and vascular malformations. Additionally, he is highly skilled in performing urological interventions, such as varicocele embolisation, as well as tumour ablation, embolisation therapies, and deep vein thrombosis interventions. His commitment to utilising advanced image-guided techniques ensures precise, targeted treatments with significantly reduced recovery times for his patients.

Assoc Prof Lyon completed his medical training across Sydney, Adelaide, and Dublin. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and subsequently completed a prestigious fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He holds professional fellowships with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) and is a holder of the European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) qualification. Assoc Prof Lyon is actively involved in the wider medical community, having served as an Examiner for the European Board of Interventional Radiologists and as a Fellow of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) and the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) in the United States. He has also contributed significantly to medical literature, with numerous scientific publications to his name.
